What do condoms do?
Contraception stops a woman from becoming pregnant. It works by stopping the sperm and egg from joining or by stopping the fertilised egg from implanting in the womb.
Condoms do this by presenting a physical barrier to the sperm and as an added bonus they also help prevent any other little nasties like sexually transmitted infections from passing between people having intimate sexual contact.
