Film Reviews :Heat

Starring - Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore & Jon Voight.
Running Time - 171 minutes
Rated - 15

Take a moment to consider who the two greatest actors/actresses are of all time. Now obviously if we were to ask a small amount of you then we would probably have some varied answers. Also if we were to ask the younger generation it would probably include Heath Ledger and Lindsay Lohan! Nevertheless I’m confident that if there was a nationwide, or even a worldwide poll, then two actors in particular would keep popping up.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino have a filmography that every actor would dream of owning. When you look back at the great films over the past 30-40 years, the chances are that one of these two would be in it. However what you would be hard pushed to find is a classic movie that both of these actors has starred in. Before Heat, the only film you could see both of them in was The Godfather Part II; although they never shared a scene together!

The fact that this film boasts both these actors as its two leads, justifies its selection at number 1 and I could just end this film review now. However, being as this is my last film review, I will endeavour to give you a summary of what I consider the greatest film of all time.

De Niro plays a professional robber, named Neil McCauley, who is a calm, methodical loner and the leader of a high tech group of criminals who are highly wanted by the LAPD.

Vincent Hanna, played by Al Pacino, is a veteran LAPD homicide detective whose devotion to his job leads to a doomed marriage that is collapsing around him. Both are committed to their goals, McCauley set on getting his on last big score and Hanna determined to stop him at whatever the costs.

These two quite rightly steal the show, but there are other sub plots and some great performances from the other cast members. Kilmer and Sizemore are also brilliant as the other members of the gang.

I was fortunate enough to watch this at the cinema, where the action scenes just come to life in front of you and you are completely blown away. It is a movie I now own and cherish and re-watch every now and then to be reminded of its greatness.

Best Bit: The shootout in the streets of Los Angeles is what all action scenes should be measured against.

Rating: 5 out of 5, every individual performance was superb, and I truly felt privileged to be able to watch this all time great movie.
