I've been close with my bestfriend for 3 years and weve been there for eachother through everything, but lately shes being going through a very hard time and last night she told me she is feeling suicidal and she has started cutting herself. i have tried to support her but i dont know what to do, ive told her to talk to her parents, see a doctor or something but she says she doesnt need help. im really worried about her and i dont want to loose her cause shes threatened suicide. reply asap please, thankyou

Your friend is obviously going through a really rough time and it is really good that you care enough to find out how you can help. Sometimes people resort to self-harm because they feel out of control and depressed. The best thing to do is to keep talking to her, and encouraging her to get help. Even if she does not feel like she has a problem she can access free counselling where she can talk over her situation. You might be able to support her in this by organising an appointment with her and maybe going with her on a first visit. Here is a link to our counselling page and centre 33 .
