What is a C-Card?
A C-Card is a small key fob that allows young people aged 13 to 24 (Not available to people who have reached their 25th birthday) to get free condoms from places displaying the C-Card logo.
How do I get a C-Card?
To get a C-Card you will need to join the scheme. You can do this by going to a C-Card Registration site. You can find out where these are by looking on our website www.youthoria.org/c-card or www.ccardcambs.com
The person giving you the card will find a quiet, private place to talk to you. They will talk to you about relationships and sexual health and how to use condoms. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about your relationships or sexual health or to help you find someone who can help you. This will take 20-30 minutes.
If you decide to join the scheme they will give you a C-card. This will not have your name or any personal details on it. Once you have a C-card you will be able to get condoms by showing your card at any place that displays the C-Card logo. You can find out where these places are by looking on our website www.youthoria.org/c-card. The kind of places you might find the logo are in your school, at a Youth Centre or Youth Support Centre or at your doctorís.
You can collect one bag of condoms at a time. There are 6 condoms in a bag. You can pick up condom packs 6 times if you are under 16 and 10 times if 16 or over. You will then need to re-register with the scheme. If you lose your card you will have to register to get a new one.
You need to show your card every time you want to get condoms. If you donít have your card with you, or if you have lost it, or if you have already picked up the maximum number of condoms, you will not be able to get any condoms at that time.
Can I only get male condoms with my C-Card?
If you or your partner has a latex allergy you can get latex free condoms. You can also get lubricant to use with your condoms.
You can get female condoms (Femidoms) or dams, for oral sex by showing your c-card at any sexual health clinic. Details of clinics can be found at www.sexualhealthcambs.nhs.uk
Ask the person doing your registration if you want to know more about what you can get.
