What is a C-Card?
A C-Card is a credit card sized card that allows young people aged 13 to 24 (Not available to people who have reached their 25th birthday) to get free condoms from places displaying the C-Card logo.
How do I get a C-Card?
To get a C-Card you will need to join the scheme. You can do this by going to a C-Card Registration site. You can find out where these are by looking on our website www.youthoria.org/c-card
The person giving you the card will find a quiet, private place to talk to you. They will talk to you about relationships and sexual health and how to use condoms. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about your relationships or sexual health or to help you find someone who can help you. This will take 20-30 minutes.
If you decide to join the scheme they will give you a C-card. This will not have your name or any personal details on it. Once you have a C-card you will be able to get condoms by showing your card at any place that displays the C-Card logo. You can find out where these places are by looking on our website www.youthoria.org/c-card. The kind of places you might find the logo are in your school, at a Youth Centre or Connexions office or at your doctor’s.
You can collect one bag of condoms at a time. There are 6 condoms in a bag. When you collect a bag of condoms the person giving you the condoms will cross off one box on your card. When you have used up all your boxes or if you lose your card you will have to register to get a new one.
You need to show your card every time you want to get condoms. If you don’t have your card with you, or if you have lost it, or if it is full, you will not be able to get any condoms at that time.
Can I only get male condoms with my C-Card?
You can get female condoms (Femidoms) or dams, for oral sex from some C-Card collection points but there is a charge for these. If you or your partner has a latex allergy you can get latex free condoms or dams. You can also get lubricant to use with your condoms. Ask the person doing your registration if you want to know more about what you can get.
