Volunteers needed for Aspergers/Autism youth clubs at Romsey Mill, Cambridge
What?
Romsey Mill is a Cambridge charity which works with young people and families. Romsey Mill's Aspire Programme works with young people aged between 9 and 18 who have Asperger Syndrome or similar high-functioning autistic spectrum conditions.
We aim to improve the young people's opportunities for social interaction through youth clubs where the specific needs of these young people are understood and met. One of these needs is for a higher ratio of adults to young people than you might expect in other youth clubs.
We rely on volunteers for this, and we are looking for D of E participants to join the volunteer team. Silver and gold participants are preferable, as longer periods of service work best for the youth club members.
Experience is not necessary, just patience and a willingness to get involved, play, and undertake different activities, and talk with the young people.
Were?
At Romsey Mill Centre in Cambridge, located just off Mill Road, at the top of Coleridge Road.
When?
There are 4 opportunities to volunteer. Monday 4-6.30pm and 6.30-9pm, (this session for over 20's only please), Wednesdays 4-6.30pm and Thursday 4-6.30pm.
We carry out enhanced CRB checks for all volunteers, and take up references.
If you are interested in undertaking your D of E volunteering with us or would like more information, please contact the Aspire Programme co-ordinator Ruth Watt using the form below:
