Jammin 2 project

Jammin2 project

Wisbech Youth Clubs have been successful in gaining funding, of £485, from the High Sheriff, for a Jammin2 project. We applied, again successfully, to the Fenland District Youth Council for funding towards the same project. They gave us £740.

The Jammin2 project came about after Fenland Arts ran open house Jammin sessions at the Queen Mary Centre ,Wisbech last summer, during holiday periods.

Our first proper planning meeting  was back in October 09. A sausage & chip tea was held at Centre4 youth room, QMC. The project has been running since then using borrowed equipment. Now thanks to part of the above funding, two weeks ago the project was able to take ownership of its own full drum kit, lead and bass guitar with amps. The High Sheriffs award will help toward microphones and a key board.

We meet once a week, young people taking part will be able to learn  the basics in drumming, guitar and keyboard. Those that already have a skill/s will be encouraged to  pass them on. The option for them to sign up for the Arts Award Scheme is available.
