15/01/19 - Female, 17 :

Is there any drop in centres in Whittlesey or Peterborough to speak to someone about mental health etc?

Ali says -

Hello there and thank you for your question

To access the youth support service in Whittlesey please call: 01354 750186 or 01354 750359 to make an appointment with a Young People’s Worker or to speak to someone straight away.  Alternatively, please visit March Youth Support Centre. On Youthoria  at which details the nearest drop in and its opening times.

In Peterborough you can access the Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS) where Young people can ring o 01733 864500 to get an appointment or support. Alternatively they have a drop in on Mon, Tues or Weds 1-4.30 at 49 Lincoln Rd, Peterborough, PE1 2RR.  The TYSS are able to signpost to mental health services and a member of staff from Centre 33 is based at the drop in every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. In Cambridgeshire the County Council commission an on line counselling service for young people called Kooth.  This service is safe, free and anonymous and might be an option you want to explore.  Young people log on and create an account, you can then wait on line for an initial assessment with a counsellor.  This might take an hour or so but once you have had the assessment you then agree a regular time that suits you to speak on line with your own counsellor.  They do not have a waiting list and could provide you with this service very quickly.  To access the Kooth website go to

For anyone needing urgently immediate help locally they can talk to the First response service (call 111 option 2) to access support and someone to talk to urgently. Alternatively they can talk to a Childline counsellor on 0800 1111 or online at or the Samaritans free of charge, 24 hours a day 365 days a year on 116123

Hope this is helpful

Best wishes, Ali
